More than just memories...

I have found it.

For a long while now I´ve been somewhat listless when it comes to games, and whilst there are many reasons for this, it has made me feel somewhat diminished. Was all that time spent on games just a waste? Why did I bother? What was the point?

All have been answered.

Recently I came into possession of a little game called Lost Odyssey, from the acclaimed creative team behind Final Fantasy (or rather, the best of the best behind the entire series) With Hironobu Sakaguchi finally agreeing to write us another story (LEGENDARY for making gamers all around the world, hardcore or no, cry their eyes out over certain scenes of FFVII ) and what has been delivered could easily stand the test of time as a Novel made by one of the best storytellers of all time...

I now remember why I play games to begin with, I recall all the memories, all the joy, all the pain, the stories, the lessons, the immersion in a world not of my own. I have in truth learned more about LIFE from computer games than I have through living life itself, no small feat you may think (and not a very proud one you might also mistakingly say) but I pledge to you all that these lessons were exemplary beyond anything a teacher could convey with mere words.

I have found a reason to play again, after these last 2 months of pretty much just participating rather than initiating any gaming of any kind. And that Reason is Lost Odyssey, pure and simple.

I wish to share this with you, I wish to allow you to understand what it is that makes Hironobu Sakaguchi so. Damn. GODLIKE. so I´ll post here a tiny insignificant *fraction* of his storytelling prowess. It´s the games first of: A thousand years of dreams scenes, and it made me cry for a computer game in the first time in many many many many years....

You may need to fullscreen it to read the text which is VITAL to get the experience. He could´ve used the high-grade graphics the medium for telling his beautiful stories, he could´ve bombarded you with action sequences with emotional overtures, but this is what he chose. Simple words. Simple truths. It may very well be the most elegant and beautiful presentation of any story ever made in any medium of our time... And I wish I *were* exaggerating

Bottom line: if you are my friend and you truly wish to share this newfound experience with me? come over sometime when I´ve completed the game, they made a specific point of making these stories accessable at any time once you´ve unlocked them via the "Thousand years of dreams" mode. Come share a truth, come share something ethereally beautiful and timeless, come cry with me for a while....

In complete Sincerity, Me.
